About HackOR

12 Schools. 600 Hackors. 48 hours of Hacking.

This spring in 2021, we—students from the major schools and universities of Oregon—are welcoming students from all over the world to join us from March 26 - 28th at the HackOR hackathon: a student event for all to enjoy a virtual weekend of programming, workshops, mentors, networking, and other fun activities.

We are very beginner friendly and encourage all students interested to join! We will be offering all hackors workshops, panels, and mentors to guide you through the process. You can enter with a team, or form one through our gathertown events and make some new friends! Join us by registering now.

What is a Hackathon?

Campfire

A hackathon is a project-based coding competition over the span of a few days. During the competition, participants team up in groups of four to create a tech solution, which is then presented to a set of judges.

With workshops, mentors, and collaborative teamwork, hackathons are great ways to build your skills in tech, design, and ideation.

At HackOR 2021, we provide 30+ hours worth of workshops and events, along with opportunities to collaborate with other students passionate about technical learning!

You can either form a team before HackOR or during the event. We will have plenty of team-formation opportunities the week before HackOR and before hacking starts. We also have a “register as a team” option if you already have a team in mind.
We will have dedicated activities and socializing throughout the event via Zoom and GatherTown, as well as Discord channels. The HackOR team is also working hard to prepare lots of fun events, workshops, and so on!
HackOR's workshops take place via zoom meetings, with the links being available through our Discord server. The hackathon competition will be organized via Devpost, where teams submit their code for the project, screenshots, descriptions, and a pitch!
